Barack Obama is attacking American sovereignty AGAIN!

President Bambam’s nominee for top legal dog at the State Department, Harold ‘Jihad’ Koh, believes that Islamic sharia law could be applied in American jurisdictions in “appropriate cases.” Koh, ex-dean at Yale law, is presumably a very smart man. But there is something frighteningly wrong about someone who thinks that there are “appropriate cases” in which a system of laws that regularly dehumanizes women and relegates them to a lower caste could have any relevance whatsoever in this country.

We’ve already seen our own President make speeches across Europe, bashing America and “apologizing” for President Bush’s actions, just to raise his own approval numbers in European polls.

So we probably shouldn’t be surprised that he would appoint people to government positions who are also part of the “blame-America” crowd.

But we have a real problem when Barack Obama nominates a sworn “internationalist,” who OPPOSES U.S. sovereignty, to be the VOICE of the United States around the world on international legal issues!

The American people need to STOP this from happening!

On March 23, Barack Obama nominated Harold Koh to become the State Department’s Legal Adviser. If the U.S. Senate confirms Koh’s nomination, he will literally be the “face” of American international law around the world.

That would be a very dangerous thing to happen.

According to news reports, Koh, a former Clinton administration official who has been dean of the Yale Law School since 2004, once wrote that the U.S. was part of an “axis of disobedience” with North Korea and Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Koh also has long held that the U.S. should accept international law when deliberating cases at home.

For example, Koh has written that he believes that the congressionally authorized 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq “violate[d] international law” because the U.S. had not received “explicit United Nations authorization.” Since when do we need to get the UN’s “permission” to take actions that our in our national interest?

Koh has also written that he believes that the decisions of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands,TRUMP the legal rulings and decisions of domestic state criminal courts, here in our own country!

He’s written that the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court should “tip more decisively toward a transnationalist jurisprudence.” He believes that the United States should ratify several documents that infringe on American sovereignty and federalism, including the Rome Statute on the International Criminal Court, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In other words, Harold Koh is a man who holds truly extreme views about American sovereignty and international jurisprudence… and Barack Obama wants him to be the top Legal Adviser to this country’s Department of State!

If we want to see American sovereignty protected, we MUST make sure this nomination does NOT go through!

Did you know that a judge in Spain is preparing to prosecute six Americans who worked as senior legal and policy advisers to President George W. Bush — including Bush’s Attorney General and his Undersecretary of Defense? Believe it or not, it’s true: a foreign judge is getting ready to prosecute American officials for providing their president with their opinions on policy issues.

THAT IS INSANITY.

But it’s the kind of thing that’s happening more and more nowadays. It’s basically a new form of warfare against our country: “lawfare,” or the use of legalized mechanisms against the United States.

Due to the international nature of the position, we should be able to count on the State Department’s Legal Adviser toprotect and defend the rights of American citizens and the interests of American institutions from the increasing — andunwelcome — influence of international organizations, and to promote policies that preserve U.S. national security prerogatives, self-governance, and constitutional principles while defending American values from these assaults by transnational actors.

Don’t misunderstand me. The President should be able to seek legal advice from whomever he wants; but the position of Legal Adviser comprises much more than that. The Legal Adviser is the voice of the United States around the world on international legal issues. Among other responsibilities, the Legal Adviser is involved in the negotiation, drafting, and interpretation of treaties, U.N. Security Council resolutions, and General Assembly resolutions; represents the United States in international negotiations, at international organizations, and before the International Court of Justice; and interprets and seeks to develop international law.

In other words, the position of Legal Adviser is not a “desk job.” It serves as a worldwide platform for whoever holds the office. And Barack Obama wants to give that platform to a man who clearly opposes American sovereignty!

That must not be allowed to happen!

And one more not-so-little thing: When the time comes for Barack Obama to make his first selection for the Supreme Court, Harold Koh is reportedly one of the people on his short list. And with the U.N. working to make abortion an international right and approving documents requiring countries across the globe to honor that right, a Koh appointment would be a severe blow to the cause of life in America.

Barack Obama has sent Harold Koh’s nomination to the U.S. Senate… so they need to know that the American people OPPOSE this man and everything he stands for. And we’ve got a GREAT way to do that!

Harold Koh’s views have a very big practical effect on American foreign policy and on American democracy: they amount to international imperialism. Under Koh’s plan, the Constitution would become secondary and international law would take precedence regardless of what Americans said about the matter.
