Obama's Brother Malik Holds Family Photo In Kenya
It seems a fantastic leap to not recognize the fact that every Cabinet position in the Obama regime is occupied by a person who has promoted gun control. It’s a fact. Google it. Wikipedia it. It’s a fact. Obama and his crew have never seen a gun ban they did not want. Every one of them.
Most logical people can figure out what is on their agenda. I will guarantee you they won’t come right out and go for a gun ban – they know most Americans won’t go for that. No, they have learned. So look for a gun ban to be hidden in a treaty with Mexico or the United Nations. Just watch.
In addition, when the Heller case came down one year ago, the gun grabbers turned their attention to ammunition. Bob Forster from Nehalem (‘Obama is not a threat,’ Headlight Herald, July 1, 2009) claims ammo prices will drop. Two questions
• How long have you been in the sporting goods business, Bob? I’ve been doing it for more than 20 years. I’m an expert at what I do. Perhaps you are an expert at what you do too, but it ain’t selling sporting goods.
• From a general perspective, historically speaking, when have prices risen and then come down? Perhaps with gasoline and the housing market, but in the end, they always keep rising. Fact. My experience tells me ammo will never return to the prices of a year ago.
I almost vomited when Mr. Forster said Obama is doing a good job. At what, breaking the economy? Putting our country in debt to the point our grandchildren will struggle to pay it? Socializing every business he can? By-passing Congress by naming 16 czars accountable to him alone? Face it, Chicago corruption has taken over the White House.
Dan Nightshade (‘No gun ban here,’ Headlight Herald, July 1, 2009) took a swipe at me with a slightly disconnected attack about not being safe simply because one has a firearm Something about God deciding if you live or die. Evidently, Mr. Nightshade didn’t know that God made men, but Sam Colt made them equal.
I also had to laugh when Mr. Nightshade said the only way to be safe with a gun is to always carry it. I always do, sir, always. If you knew me, you would know that. When I go out, I accessorize by choosing what carry-piece to pack. I am not exaggerating. And, yes, Mr. Nightshade, it is always loaded and ready to fire.
I am a firearm safety instructor, firearm dealer and farmer, sir. In every aspect of my life, a sidearm is a required implement. I do, however, take offense to your assertion that because lawful Americans pack guns, they are ready to fire at shadows. That is more ignorance on your part, obviously.
Lastly, I was chided by Andy Stephens (‘Reckless thinking,’ Headlight-Herald, July 1, 2009) for not buying the global-warming hysteria. I was told that not believing it was reckless thinking. In my opinion, it is reckless to believe Al Gore and Bono.
Nearly three-quarters of global scientists say it’s a myth.
I would wholeheartedly agree we should conserve. We should keep exploring wind, solar, nuclear, water – but not at the expense that this cap-and-trade tax will cost.
Electric rates skyrocketing 90 percent? Gas up over 50 percent? Everything in the country will cost more. Given the fact that the economy is already on its face, is now the right time to raise prices on everything by amounts like this?
Since China and other countries are pumping out pollution (while crushing us economically), it seems a monumental leap of faith to think if we suffer with this cap-and-trade tax, that this one country can save the planet.
Al Gore didn’t invent the Internet, but he sure did invent global warming.
Investing in new resources for power is a great goal, but not at the expense of further crushing our economy.
In summation, last week after the Headlight Herald was published, I was asked by more than one friend if I was scared of being “gone after” by people on the left – government bureaucrats or otherwise – because of my outspoken opinions. I’ve been thinking deeply about their fear, not because I am afraid, but because it disturbs me that people are afraid of speaking their minds.
If America comes to the point where we cannot speak our voice, we have lost it all.
